Korg microKORG2 Firmware Version 2.0
Firmware Version 2.0 for the microKORG2 delivers a major upgrade in both sound design flexibility and performance power. The update introduces logue SDK support, allowing users to install custom oscillators and effects from third-party developers, including Sinevibes. It also enhances the loop recorder with step recording, slicing, and WAV import/export functions, and adds a new keyboard split feature for dual-zone performance.
Additional refinements to the internal engine provide expanded modulation options, with OSC3 now usable as a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) or as a modulation source, enabling deeper and more expressive sound creation. Version 2.0 effectively transforms the microKORG2 from a fixed-architecture synth into an open, evolving instrument.

Keyboard Split Function
- Allows division of the keyboard into two zones, each assigned a separate patch.
- Ideal for live setups — bass on the left hand, lead or pad on the right.
Loop Recorder Enhancements
- Step Recording: Record loops note-by-note for precise control.
- Slice Mode: Divide recorded loops into slices and assign them across the keyboard.
- WAV Import/Export: Export loops as 16-bit/48 kHz WAV files for DAW use, or re-import edited versions.
- Supports importing third-party loops for performance and sampling workflows.
Trophy System
- Contains 15 hidden “trophies” that unlock as the user performs specific actions, encouraging deeper exploration of features.

- Adds new parameters, routing options, and refinements for greater expressivity and workflow stability.

Final Word
In a world of synthesizers with free firmware updates – this one would have to be one of the best I’ve seen. Up until now, I’d say the Novation Bass Station II firmware update AFX mode 4.14 would have been my favourite.
